This course is designed to explore the issues, conditions, trends, and techniques for management in the 21st century. The ultimate challenge faced by professional management throughout the world today is how to develop sustainable business, economic, and social strategies and policies which will be compatible with the very real biological limits of our planetary system. The course critically assesses the conventional economic principles and theories that underlie the global business and economic system, and their impact on individuals, society, and the environment. The course also makes use of economic strategy simulation systems analysis to understand the forces and interrelationships of economic, demographic, and technological growth.
